Kang, who is the first South Korean-born player to be drafted in the first-year player draft (his family moved to the Atlanta area when he was 14), has played the past seven years in the Tampa Bay Rays minor league system. The 25-year-old hit .264/.365/.479 with 16 home runs and 49 RBIs while splitting the 2013 season between Class-A Charlotte and Double-A Montgomery.
