Struggling Lidge to remain Phils' closer

NEW YORK -- Something is not right with Phillies closer Brad Lidge.
He blew his second save of the weekend Sunday in a 4-3 victory over the Yankees in 11 innings at Yankee Stadium, and has blown four saves in 12 opportunities this season.
Phillies manager Charlie Manuel said Lidge remains his closer.

Is Lidge healthy? He said he is.
Has his stuff gone south? The Phillies point to the radar gun, which shows Lidge's fastball is still 94 to 95 mph.
"It's not like his fastball is 90," catcher Chris Coste said. "His slider is still pretty hard. It's still got good depth to it."
(릿지는 건강도 문제가 없고 여전히 직구는 94~95마일을 찍고 있으며, 그의 슬라이더는 여전히 강력합니다..
즉, 그는 여전히 좋은 뎁스를 가지고 있다고 팀의 포수인 크리스 코스테가 언급하고 있습니다)


Is it his location?
Lidge entered Sunday throwing more balls this season, but only incrementally more than last season: 40.9 percent balls compared to 38.1 percent last year. Then again, the perception that Lidge is throwing many more balls could make a difference in what pitches hitters swing at in certain situations, even though statistically they are swinging at about the same percentage of pitches as last season (44.2 percent this year compared to 43.1 percent last year).
(올시즌 달라진 점은 작년에는 38.1%였던 볼의 비율이 올 시즌엔 40.9%로 상승했다는 부분입니다.. 다시 말해 릿지는 작년 시즌과 달리 올 시즌 타자에게 보다 많은 볼을 던지고 있는 상황입니다..  통계적으로 작년시즌과 같은 수치의 투구대비 스윙으로 적용한다고 해도 릿지의 투구수는 작년의 43.1%, 올시즌은 44.2%로서 차이점을 보여주고 있습니다)

Dubee said hitters aren't swinging at Lidge's slider as much because he isn't throwing his fastball for strikes. If Lidge can't throw the fastball for strikes, the hitters just sit on the slider. And if the slider doesn't start up in the strike zone, they know it's going to be a ball.
(듀비 투수코치가 언급하는 것인데.. 릿지의 슬라이더를 타자들이 더이상 스윙을 하지 않는다고 합니다.. 이유로는 릿지가 스트라이크를 잡는데 그의 패스트볼을 던지지 않기 때문이라고 하군요.. 만약 릿지가 스트라이크를 잡는데 패스트볼을 던지지 않는다면 타자들은 슬라이더에 적응하게 될 것이고 그런 슬라이더가 스트라이크 존에 형성이 되지 않는 다면 타자들은 그게 볼로 형성이 될 것이라는 것을 알고 있다고 합니다..)

원문 그대로 보실 분들은 링크를 걸어두겠습니다.. 머 좀더 글이 있긴 한데 그건 그닥 중요한건 아니고..
현재 릿지의 상황이 그닥 좋지 않은데 역시나 볼의 비율이 높아지고 투구수는 많고 타자들이 예전처럼 스윙을 남발하지 않고 오랫동안 볼을 본다는거.. 이런 것들이 릿지의 고전을 가져오게 하는 원인 같네요..

듀비 투수코치의 말은 어차피 직구를 스트라이크 잡는데 활용하지 않으니 스트라이크 존에 들어오는 볼은 슬라이더가 될 것이고 그런 슬라이더가 스트라이크존에 형성이 안되면 스윙할 이유가 없지않느냐 하는거죠.. 존에 넣을 볼이 하나인데 그게 안들어오면 스윙하는 타자가 이상한 친구죠 머 ㅡ_ㅡ;;

저번 필리스 경기 중계볼때도 해설자가 릿지의 볼비율이 너무 많다는 이야기를 한거 같습니다만..
필라델피아의 불펜이 강한건 사실이지만 그건 어디까지나 릿지가 마지막을 잘 마무리 해줄때 가능한 이야기인데..
어찌되었던 직구구위에 대한 자신감을 어서 찾아야 할 듯 싶네요..









Shift to four-man rotation cited as main reason for Hochevar’s demotion


ST. LOUIS | Right-handed pitcher Luke Hochevar is heading back to the minors because of the schedule-maker, it turns out, and not any lack of patience from the Royals.
Manager Trey Hillman confirmed plans Sunday to switch temporarily to a four-man rotation — Brian Bannister, Gil Meche, Zack Greinke and Kyle Davies — because of two open dates over the next eight days.
The Royals won’t need a fifth starter again until June 6.
(호체바를 다시 마이너로 내린것은 로얄스의 인내심 부족이 아니고 팀의 스케줄 때문입니다.. 힐먼 감독은 이번주에 팀이 오프데이가 2번있기에 최소 6월 6일까지는 5명의 선발이 필요가 없는 팀의 상황상 -브라이언 베니스터, 길 메쉬, 잭 그레인키, 카일 데이비스- 의 4인 로테이션으로 변경했습니다)

The odd-man out was Hochevar despite an encouraging performance in Saturday’s 5-0 loss to the Cardinals. The decision to option him back to Class AAA Omaha was one of six roster moves made late Saturday after the Royals suffered their 11th loss in 14 games.
“It wasn’t an easy send-down,” Hillman said. “But he understands that we need to get a couple of bullpen arms in to protect the bullpen a little better.”
(토요일 경기에서 긍정적인 모습을 보여줬음에도 불구하고 호체바는 제외되게 되었습니다.. 최근 14경기에서 11패를 겪고 있는 로얄스가 토요일 경기 이후 6자리의 로스터 변경을 만들었던 것중 하나인.. 그가 트리플A로 내려가는 옵션을 그에게 실행하기로 결정했습니다.. 힐먼은 쉬운 결정은 아니었지만 현재 불펜을 보호하기 위해 며칠간은 불펜투수를 팀에서 필요로 하고 있기때문에 이렇게 할 수 밖에 없었다라고 언급했습니다)

The Royals also placed shortstop Mike Aviles and reliever Robinson Tejeda on the disabled list, which cleared the way for three arrivals from Omaha: infielder Tug Hulett and relievers John Bale and Roman Colon.

Hochevar went 0-2 while allowing 15 runs and 17 hits in 11 2/3 innings over three starts after arriving May 10 from Omaha. But he was better Saturday in limiting the Cardinals to four runs and seven hits in 6 1/3 innings.

“I was pleased with him (Saturday),” Hillman said. “He was deserving of staying in the rotation. It was more of a need to make sure we protect our bullpen arms.”

Hochevar will remain on his regular schedule at Omaha and, come June 6, could reclaim his spot in the big-league rotation.

“It all depends on how he performs,” Hillman said. “I told him that I expected it to be him, and I do expect it to be him because of what he brings to the table. But you can’t have a meeting on the 23rd and make a guy a promise about a couple of weeks (in the future).”

일단 오늘 경기에서 무득점 행진을 멈추면서 겨우겨우 카즈의 선발 피네이로에게 3점을 뽑았고, 선발투수 베티스터의 호투를 발판으로 3 : 2의 승리를 거두긴 했습니다..

BUT!! 타선이 침체되었다는 분위기를 지울래야 지울 수가 없군요 ㅜㅜ
초반 많이 벌어두었던 승수가 이제 정확히 5할에 딱 맞추어졌는데.. 작년과는 우리가 달라졌다라는걸 보여줬으면 좋겠군요..
중부지구쪽에는 결국 전력상으로 디트로이트나.. 후반기에 상승세가 눈부실 것으로 예상되는 저력의 미네소타 정도가 경쟁할 것으로 보여지는데 타선의 각성만 이루어진다면 딱히 우리 팀이 밀릴 이유는 없다고 생각됩니다..
좀더 힘내주길 바랍니다 ^^
